Southern Hard Rockers Sevendust Still Making Soul Piercing Music...

Hailing from Atlanta  GA, the alternative-heavy metal rock group Sevendust date their beginnings back to 1994.  The quintet continues to pump out the highly energized, emotional, rhythmic and guitar driven jams they have since then, they have just gotten better with age.  Consisting of Lajun Whiterspoon (lead vocals). Clint Lowery (guitar/vocals), Morgan Rose (drums/vocals), Vince Hornsby (bass) and John Connolly (guitar/vocals), they consider themselves a brotherhood (they even named their record label 7Bros. Records) and this family like closeness comes through in their music. Sevendust released their self-titled debut album in April of 1997, with such singles as “Black” and “Bitch”.  Though it garnered little critical acclaim or commercial success (it took nearly a year to crack the Billboard 200, peaking at#165), it laid the groundwork for a very fan base that would last throughout their career.  After Sevendust, they released their sophomore effort, Home in August of 1999.  Home received much better success, peaking the Billboard charts at #19.  It had the singles “Denial”, “Waffle” and “Licking Cream” feat. Skin of Skunk Anasie.  In November 2001, the band released their third album, Animosity.  The single “Angel’s Son”, a dedication to the deceased frontman of Snot, Lynn Strait, is considered one of the bands best works to date.   Seasons, the bands fourth album, was released in October 2003.  Though it debuted at #14 in the Billboard chart, and the single “Enemy” peaked at #10 (their highest single to date) the album failed to receive gold certification.  For fans of the band, this was their best release at the time, showcasing a great maturity musically.  In the middle of the tour for Seasons, guitarist Clint Lowery quit the band to join his brother Corey in his band Dark New Day.  Sevendust recruited Sonny Mayo, formerly of Snot, as a replacement.  Since that time they released two more albums Next (2005) and Chapter VII:...

Alter Bridge Continues its Hard Rock Journey!...

Many alternative hard rock fans may not know this, but there is a band that is comprised of three of the four members of, arguably,  one of the best and most successful bands in rock-n-roll history!  They already have released three epic albums.  Their live shows are something anyone in attendance will surely never forget.  And the style, talent and musicianship stands above their peers.  Who are they you may ask?…they the Alter Bridge! Formed in Orlando, FL in 2004 after the breakup of Creed, Alter Bridge feature former Creed members Mark Tremonti (lead guitar/backing vocals), Scott Phillips (drums) and Brian Marshall (bass).  After holding auditions for the new project without finding a suitable vocalist, they hand choose Myles Kennedy (lead vocals), formerly of  to front The Mayfield Four, a band which the former Creed members were fans of.  Mark Tremonti has stated the the name Alter Bridge is taken after an actual bridge which used to be on Alter Road near his home in Detroit. The band began working on their debut album, entitled One Day Remains, was released on August 10, 2004 by Wind-up Records (the record label for Creed).  Despite the great success of Creed, One Day Remains received mixed reviews upon its release and only managed to achieve gold status.  This was a far cry from the success three of the four members were used to, as Creed has achieved multi-platinum status many times over.  One Day Remains did however peak at the #5 position on the Billboard Charts for fourteen weeks. Before the final leg of the One Day Remains tour in 2006, Alter Bridge’s relationship with Wind-up Records, who did not share the band’s vision, began to deteriorate. The band asked to be released from the label since the release of One Day Remains, but their request...
